Mandarin Dragonet -
Green Spotted Mandarin Goby
(Synchiropus picturatus)
Just about the coolest little fish one can add to a saltwater aquarium. Have had in tank since startup (6+ years now). No idea as to longevity. Easy to keep, but needs well established reef tank to find enough food. Never stops foraging all in and about live rock. Lots of personality. Gets along well with all other tank mates. Is a fun fish to watch eat and move about. Definitely a family favorite!
Green Spotted Mandarin Goby - They have a green body highlighted and spottend with darker shades of green and have yellow-oragne accents. The have unusually shaped pectoral fins that allow them to "hover" in mid-water. Males can be distinguished from females by their elongated front dorsal spine. They are a peacefull fish and will not harm other inhabitants. More than one may be kept in the aquarium. Names Common Name: Green Spotted Mandarin Goby Minimum Tank Size: 30 Level of Care: Moderate-Difficult (I would say pretty easy in an established tank) Diet: Carnivore. Provide meaty foods such as fresh chopped seafood, mysid shrimp, brine shrimp. (I have never seen mine eat anything other then what it caught on own...) Natural Origin: Indo-Pacific Approximate-Sizes: Small-Large: 1 - 4 Inches
